Warranties

Equipment sold by Imperial AC Supply carries the warranty of the company that made it. This page explains who covers what, what we can help with, and how to start a claim.

Who provides the warranty

Imperial AC Supply is a supplier and distributor. Unless we have stated otherwise in writing, we do not manufacture the equipment we sell.

New equipment may carry a limited manufacturer’s warranty, governed entirely by the terms, conditions, exclusions and procedures set by that manufacturer. Warranty periods vary by product and by brand. Imperial AC Supply does not provide any independent warranty beyond the manufacturer’s.

What we can help with

We are not the warranty provider, but we are not going to leave you to work it out alone either. Contact us and we can:

  • confirm what you bought, when, and on which order;
  • supply a copy of your invoice, which most manufacturers ask for;
  • point you to the correct warranty department or authorised service channel for that brand;
  • identify and quote replacement parts.

What we cannot do is diagnose an equipment failure or decide whether a claim qualifies. Only the manufacturer can do that.

Before the equipment is installed

If a unit arrives damaged, or you find a problem before installation, treat it as a delivery or returns matter rather than a warranty claim — it is usually resolved faster that way.

Freight deliveries must be inspected before you sign the delivery receipt. Note any damage on the receipt before the driver leaves, photograph it, and contact us straight away. Once a delivery has been signed for clean, we are not responsible for damage found later. See Shipping & Delivery.

After the equipment is installed

Once equipment has been installed, energised, started up or connected to any electrical, refrigerant, plumbing, gas or ventilation system, it is considered accepted. From that point warranty claims are handled directly with the manufacturer, unless the law requires otherwise.

What a manufacturer warranty does not cover

Manufacturer warranties generally cover the part or the unit itself. They do not usually cover the cost of getting it fixed. Imperial AC Supply does not provide or reimburse:

  • labour, installation, removal or reinstallation;
  • refrigerant;
  • shipping or freight on warranty parts;
  • crane, lift or rigging charges;
  • diagnostic time or service call fees.

Read the manufacturer’s warranty document that came with your equipment for the exact terms — they differ meaningfully between brands.

Refurbished equipment

Refurbished items are sold as-is. Unless we have stated otherwise in writing at the time of sale, they carry no manufacturer warranty and are not eligible for return, exchange or credit.

Register your equipment

Most manufacturers require the equipment to be registered within a set period after installation, and several offer a longer warranty term if you do. Registration is done with the manufacturer, not with us, and the deadline is theirs — check the paperwork in the box or the brand’s website shortly after startup. Missing the registration window can shorten the coverage you are entitled to.

How to start a claim

  1. Find the model and serial number from the unit’s data plate.
  2. Locate your invoice or order number. If you cannot find it, we can look it up.
  3. Note the installation or startup date, and who performed it.
  4. Contact the manufacturer’s warranty department for that brand. If you are not sure who that is, ask us and we will tell you.

Choosing “Warranty claim” on our contact form routes your message to the right person here.
